Monday Adventures

Now that testing is over (until April) we're trying to back into our regular routine. Today we were supposed to use classflow during our Math lesson, but due to some technical difficulties we had to do it the old school way. Luckily our Reading lesson on Cause and Effect was a little more successful, and ended up being quite an interesting.

We started out by watching a few short video clips from various Disney movies to introduce Cause and Effect. One, coming from Lion King 1 1/2 brought lots of laughter to the class, watch the clip and you'll see why (especially having students write about it... ). Students watched the video clips, then worked with their partners to come up with the cause and effect to write on their graphic organizers. As an engage piece I'd say this was quite successful!

Being that today was an introduction to the concept, we kept it quite basic. While searching on the Classflow site the other day I found a pre-made lesson which I decided to use today with the students. I like that it brought in different types of assessment, students typing, matching through moving things, and also drawing lines between the matching sentences.

My next step in the implementation of Classflow is to step it up a notch, having students do a little more self guided learning, taking pictures of things they've done at their tables, etc. It has been a quick week of integration thus far, but my students are learning more and more about Classflow each time we use it. They're actually already teaching me some things!
